2nd Grade
2nd grade students enjoyed doing a scratch art project on animals and their environments! Students learned about a variety of animals and their habitats while integrating them with science and art. They were taught about techniques on how to draw animals by observation and using shapes that they could see within the animals. The students were able to choose the animal they were most interested in and practice it multiple times. Some needed to make their animals larger than what their picture showed. They practiced how to scale their animal to create a larger image. Next, students were taught how to use patterns on the animals to show texture and about adding details in the background for the habitat. Last, they were shown how to use the scratch art paper and the tools to create their final art piece.
